Educational Qualification: (a) Group „X‟ (Except Education Instructor Trade). Note – 1: Candidate eligible for Group X examination (on the basis of intermediate/10+2) are also eligible for Group Y and would be given an option of appearing in both group X and Group Y exam in one sitting while filling up the online registration form.

Note 2: Diploma holders are eligible to appear for Group X trades only.

Pay & Allowances: During training, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month will be paid. On completion of training the starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay including Military Service Pay (MSP),Group ‘X’ Pay {applicable for Group ‘X’ Trades only}and Dearness Allowance (DA) will be as follows:- (a) Group „X‟ Trades (Except Education Instructor Trade). Rs.33,100/- per month plus Dearness allowance (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual. (b) Group „Y‟ {Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P),IAF(S) and Musician}Trades. Rs. 26,900/- per month plus Dearness allowance (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.

Examination Fee : Examination fee of Rs.250/-is to be paid by the candidate while registering for the online examination. Selection Procedure: The ‘Online’ Applications will be sorted out Centre wise. The conduct of test is planned during the month of April 2017. The Selection procedure is as follows:

(a) Short-listing criteria will be based on higher percentage of marks for a particular examination Centre. 

(b) The qualifying cut off percentage (%) of a particular Centre may be increased if more number of applications with higher percentage is received.

(c) The written examination will be of objective type, which will generally cover subjects such as Maths, Physics, basic Chemistry, knowledge of English upto 12th standard, general knowledge, current affairs, quantitative aptitude and reasoning etc.

(d) Those who qualify written examination will undergo Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Initial Medical Examination (Preliminary). The testing procedure will take 2-3 days. Physically Challenged candidates are not eligible to apply for this examination.

(e) Physical Fitness Test (PFT): PFTwill be conducted for all those who qualify the written tests. All candidates are advised to be in possession of sport rig (Shoe, T shirt, Trouser etc).

Medical Standards:(a) Medical examination will be conducted by authorized Military Doctors as per medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to Enrolled Personnel on entry.

(b) Height. Minimum height 157 cms. Reduction in height for candidates from hilly and tribal areas will be in accordance with the Central Govt. orders.

(c) Chest. Should be well proportioned. Minimum expansion 5 cms. (d) Weight. Proportionate to height and age +10% acceptable.

(e) Hearing. Normal. *Candidates are advised to get their ears cleaned for wax and tartar removed from teeth prior to examination. (f) Visual Standards. 6/6 (Better Eye) and 6/9 (Worse Eye) (Candidates using glasses are not eligible)

Note: Candidates with above medical standards are only to appear for the selection. No waiver will be given for the above standards. The Indian Coast Guard order on medical standards of the Naviks will be the final authority in case of dispute. Applicants declared permanent medically unfit by any Armed Forces Hospital in previous recruitment for the same entry in Coast Guard are advised not to apply.

Training: The basic training will commence in Aug 2017 at INS Chilka followed by sea training and professional training in the allotted trade. Branch/trade will be allocated as per the requirement of service and performance during basic training. Naviks are liable to be discharged as UNSUITABLE due to unsatisfactory performance at any time during the training.

Qualification as on 30.6.2016 : A candidate must possess the minimum qualification of Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. The candidate should have passed in English as one of the subjects at SSC/ HSC/ Intermediate/ Graduation level. Candidate should possess certificate in proof of passing the qualifying examination as on 30.06.2016. Knowledge of Regional Language of the State of Recruitment is essential. Probation Period : The newly appointed employees will be on probation for a minimum period of 6 months. Before the probation period comes to an end the performance of the newly recruited employees will be evaluated and the probation period of those employees whose performance fails to meet Company’s expectation, may be extended. Candidates resigning from the Company during the probationary period and candidates whose services are terminated by the Company during the probationary period shall be liable to pay the salary received by them during their entire service in the Company in addition to an amount of Rs.25,000/. towards partial cost of training.
